With Tracer, you’re able to simply log and measure informations from your application-endpoints. For example, you can transfer error-informations or measuring data like time-spans to measure, how long an action in your application is taking.
Before you’re able to track and monitor your application, you need to set up Conductor. To do this, open your application or device in Congether and navigate to the “Tracer”-module-page.
You’ll see a list of available Tracer-Items. This Items can either be a “Log-Configuration” (Flash-Icon) or a “Measure-Configuration” (Gauge-Icon).
To edit a given configuration, simply click on it. To create a new configuration, click on “Add new Item”.
Create or Edit a Configuration
If you want to create or edit a new configuration, you can set a unique identifier for your configuration. This identifier, you’ll use in the Endpoint-API or the SDKs, to specify, what you’re trying to log right now.
After you set a unique identifier for your Tracer-Item, you can set a specific type.
Use “Log” to trace simple log entries, which contains no measurable informations.
Use “Metric” to trace informations, which are measurable (e.g. temperatures, timings or numeric and analyzable values)
For each type, you can have different preferences. In the current stage of Congether, you can set following:
This parameter defines, after which period of time the single trace-entries should be removed from the database. For example, you can set this duration for simple informative log-entries to a lower amount. Fatal errors or important measure-data can be stored for a longer period of time.
